With the re-emergence of a desire for independence in Scotland that is particularly associated with strong feelings of european identity, how can the European Union give its citizens all the information they need to make an informed vote while maintaining neutrality in the referendum process?

With the United Kingdom’s decision to exit the European Union, how will a Member State’s exit impact both internal and external European borders? Given the symbolic and materialistic importance of the open border on the island of Ireland, how best can the EU mediate the tension between the United Kingdom’s desire to regain control of its borders, whilst recognising the potential negative e ects on peace and commerce in Northern Ireland and the Good Friday agreement, should a hard border return?
