Freedom to connect: Recent lockdowns have proven once more that the lives of European citizens heavily rely on internet connection. At the same time, lack of access to the internet, for geographical, economic, or social reasons, has proven to be a major cause of marginalisation and deprived people of fundamental human rights such as the right to education. Given the ongoing debates regarding internet access as a fundamental right, what stance should the EU take on the matter, and what steps should be taken to ensure that all citizens have access to a digital single market?
